Capacity Building Plan for SBC

Objective:

Capacity Building Plan for SBC

About Project
The project, led by UNICEF Pakistan’s Social and Behavior Change (SBC) section, focuses on developing and strategically planning capacity-building solutions for SBC programming. The initiative aims to assess and address existing capacity gaps in SBC among UNICEF Pakistan’s partners at both national and provincial levels. By adapting and contextualizing existing UNICEF SBC content, the project seeks to improve SBC knowledge and practices across priority sectors such as WASH, Gender, Child Protection, Nutrition, Health, and Education. The ultimate goal is to enhance the ability of UNICEF’s partners to design and implement evidence-based SBC strategies that deliver measurable results for children and their communities.

Services Provided:

Momentum has extensive expertise in conducting capacity assessments for Social and Behavior Change (SBC) programming. Our assessments are designed to evaluate organizations’ readiness and capacity to effectively implement SBC strategies. We focus on understanding current capabilities and identifying areas for enhancement, ensuring that SBC interventions are impactful and sustainable.

Key Steps:

  1. Conceptual Framework Development:
    • Establish a framework based on UNICEF’s SBC guidelines and Theory of Change (ToC) to evaluate institutional blocks essential for effective SBC integration.
  2. Operational Framework:
    • Research Participants: Engage key stakeholders, including UNICEF SBC staff, implementing partners, and government stakeholders from sectors such as Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Gender, and Child Protection.
    • Selection Criteria: Use purposive sampling to identify 250 respondents for comprehensive representation.
    • Training: Train field researchers on qualitative research methods, cultural sensitivity, and interview protocols.
  3. Data Collection:
    • Desk Review: Conduct a literature review to build an understanding of SBC and identify institutional benchmarks.
    • Semi-Structured Interviews: Interview stakeholders to gather qualitative data guided by the established SBC building blocks.
    • Likert Scale Questionnaires: Assess SBC capacity through structured questionnaires, primarily with UNICEF staff.
  4. Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and assets within SBC programming.
    • Develop recommendations for context-specific capacity-building solutions.

Our capacity assessments provide a detailed understanding of SBC programming capabilities, enabling organizations to enhance their strategies effectively. By identifying gaps and leveraging strengths, Momentum supports the development of tailored solutions that drive impactful social and behavior change initiatives. Through our comprehensive approach, we ensure that SBC programs are equipped with the necessary resources, skills, and knowledge to achieve their goals.
