Transforming Education: Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Policy Design

Objective:

Transforming Education: Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Policy Design

About Project
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department (E&SED) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) is launching an initiative to develop a comprehensive Literacy and Numeracy Policy to enhance educational outcomes in the region. This effort aims to align educational practices with constitutional and international standards, specifically Article 25-A of the Pakistani Constitution, which guarantees free and compulsory education for children aged 5 to 16. The policy will address current gaps in literacy and numeracy, improve access to quality education, and implement strategies to boost student retention and educational quality. The development process will involve educators, parents, community members, and other stakeholders to ensure the policy is inclusive and effective. The ultimate goal is to raise educational standards and make KPK a model for excellence in literacy and numeracy education.
